Big thank you to Amber and Lacey for sharing their experiences. It’s worth repeating their central idea: if you can’t figure out why something is happening, what reason someone [white people] would have to say/do the things explained in this book, then the answer is racism… racism doesn’t need a “why,” it’s just… racism.
