Machines Like Me
by Ian McEwan
Ian McEwan's work always amazes me, (before and ever since I chose to focus on his early writing for my university literature dissertation). Both subtle and complex in his exploration of relationships, emotion, and what it means to be human. This novel was particularly haunting due to AI being so prevalent in modern culture. Could this be the future: humans coexisting with robots? The threat of the 'inhuman' to the human? If you've not read any McEwan, I wouldn't pick this up as a starting point. But if you're fascinated by science, read this!
