The Tales of Arcana Fortune
by Hafsa A Jawad
I really wanted to love this one. It was giving me Once Upon a Broken Heart vibes and the art is so beautiful. It follows Grim and Serena as Serena is cursed by Lore and has to get through 7 fairytales over 7 nights. If she doesn’t she will be cursed to stay in them.
I didn’t really feel connected to the main characters and their love felt very instant to me. I loved the idea of the fairytales but they were really short (2-3 chapters each). I wish there would have been maybe less fairytales and more time spent with each one. Lore also kept telling Serena how to get through the fairytales which I found odd since he is the one who cursed her.
This reads younger YA to me but did have some religious stuff thrown in as well as some intimate moments that strongly hinted to a sex scene, so maybe best for older YA.
This wasn’t for me, but it might be for you if you don’t mind the insta love and really enjoy fairytales. I really wish I connected to it more because the premise is really neat.
