The Duke with the Dragon Tattoo by Kerrigan Byrne

4.0

I had been hoping to hear more about the pirate lord, Rook, and was surprised to learn his connection to earlier characters. I am glad they did recap because its been awhile since I read the first one and did not realize right away.

As usual Byrne delivers a story which the angst is turned up pretty darn high. However, nothing beats the first book of the series for angst and honestly, in this case, the crap that happened to the hero was horrendous so I had much more sympathy for his difficulty dealing with emotion. Knowing him as a young, broken man only notched up the emotions.
SpoilerI get teary eyed just thinking about how that poor, sweet boy was treated.

I felt bad for thinking this but I was pleased for once
Spoilerthe hero and heroines were virgins. I mean their love for each other was epic so it only made sense

While I prefer feisty heroines I think Lorelei was lovely and very well written. She is a gentle soul but strong in her own way. I felt for her

.

I'm tentatively looking forward to the next, though I fear it the levels of angst.
