The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

5.0

I stayed up till 2 in the morning to finish this book. I could NOT put it down...when I finished this book I wanted to jump on here and tell the world how amazing this book is...but sanity seemed to have found me and I decided to wait till the morning to share with you the love that I have for this book. Let me give you some context behind my deciding to read the hunger games.

My lovely friend has her birthday coming up and she wanted as one of her birthday wishes (you get three) that we see the hunger games at the movies. Of course I did not say no, it was her birthday wish of course, but she also wished that I had read the book before I watched the movie. Bring a poor student this made it unrealistic because I'm the kind of person who has the buy the entire series at once - no waiting in between thanks. But then the book gods were shinning on me and March as you kiwis know is NZ book month. $5 VOUCHERS. BOOKS HERE I COME. But still my challenge, to read the book before Saturday. My boyfriend thought I couldn't do so challenge accepted.

This book was incredibly hard to put down and I am struggling to find a flaw in Suzanne's writing. This book deserves to be put into a movie - it is that amazing. The plot setting and the characters are just amazing. Katniss is my new idol not only because she sacrifices herself for her sister but also because she knows one important rule - Everything is a performance in the Hunger Games. The characters in this book were memorable - as well as the gory scenes and I can't wait to see what the next book has in store.

I have been on the emotional rollercoaster ride that is called the Hunger Games and I leave feeling a little bruised and battered but in a good way. Suzanne Colline's writing made me feel like I was right there with Katniss and Peeta even Gale.

Please read the book before the movie so that you can understand how awesome this book really is.

Happy Reading!
