The Girl I Used to Be
by April Henry
I enjoyed the mystery, but I felt as though the climax was a bit rushed, and the who-done-it was sprung out of left field. It went from a sunny day with lemonade to BAM!: murderer. There was no gradual finding out phase, even within the scene itself. I think my students will enjoy it though. Mature enough story to intrigue 8th graders without any scenes that are too worrisome for 6th graders.
