The short story equivalent of an Oprah’s Book Club selection, and that’s an attempt to damn with faint praise. It’s not that it’s bad; it’s just not that interesting. The basic story is that a newly married military wife struggles to find her own place in Key West, where her husband has his jets and his military buddies, but she just can’t come to terms with her life and is attracted by something else, far in the distance. Bleah. On a sentence by sentence level, it’s well done, but the whole was a disappointment.
