seefahrer 's review for:
The Secret History
by Donna Tartt
dark
mysterious
medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven:
A mix
Strong character development:
Complicated
Loveable characters:
No
Flaws of characters a main focus:
Yes
The good points:
the writing is fatasitic and the plot kept me engaged almost throughout all of the book. Thr characters felt very real and they all had their individual voices.
The bad points:
Felt melodramatic (especially towards the end), also very frustrating at times, the main characters were unlikable (though it makes sense in the story). The ending was very unsatisfactory and I felt like there was something missing and honestly doubt I will re-read this one.
(Also, the professor in the description is barly there. I thought their relationship would play a bigger role, but he doesn't add a lot to the plot)

Graphic: Incest, Suicide, Murder
Moderate: Homophobia
Minor: Racism, Sexism
Unsatisfying ending
