The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom
5.0

Corrie Ten Boom, her sister, and elderly father lived and worked as watchmakers in Haarlem, Holland before WWII. As Holland gets drawn into the war and becomes occupied by Nazis, Corrie realizes that, as a Christian, she needs to do what she can to help her Jewish friends and neighbors by becoming part of the Dutch Underground, hiding Jewish people in her home's secret room from Nazis. In the end, all but Corrie lose their battle in a concentration camp after being caught. The Hiding Place is her autobiography of this time period.

Corrie's story of rebellion and survival is amazing, heartfelt, hopeful, and gut-wrenching. Her and her family's path is truly inspirational - one person could do so much good if she was able to keep her faith and love in such horrific times. Everyone should read this, or listen to the audiobook as I did. After finishing The Hiding Place, I feel inspired to become a better person and to make the most of what I have been given.
