I really loved this book. I’ve read the criticisms people have of it and I can also understand why they feel that way. There were times when I didn’t like the characters, particularly Sam.  I was frustrated by their assumptions, lack of communication and arrogance (Sam) BUT I felt that their flaws were so realistic of the mental health battles and trauma that they’d faced that I can only see them as examples of good writing. The Pioneers chapter was a bit slow but I appreciate how it approached the cycle of the argument/reconciliation in a different way. I found myself invested in them and caught between not wanting to put the book down whilst also not wanting it to end.
