I worried this was going to be a disappointing read because of the hype on Amazon, but it was far from it. I was totally engaged and I like that the writing is enough to set the scene and develop characters but leaves space for the reader to add to it with their own imaginings. If you like revenge tropes in thrillers you may like this one - not saying anything more! The complexities of abusive relationships and how the abused can become abusers in some way or feel entitled to treat others a certain way is really well presented without justifying abuse, victim blaming, or going too far.
Graphic: Confinement, Domestic abuse, Emotional abuse, Infidelity, Physical abuse, Torture, Toxic relationship, Gaslighting, Classism
Moderate: Child abuse, Infertility, Forced institutionalization, Schizophrenia/Psychosis , Injury/Injury detail, Classism
Minor: Rape, Sexual assault, Deportation
