What a fabulous book made even better by the narrator! I read and enjoyed this book last year but started listening to it on a whim and liked the audiobook even more!

Daphne moves to a new state with her fiancé to begin their carefully thought out and organized life together only to have him admit to being in love with his childhood best friend. Having no friends or family nearby of her own, but a job she adores, she sees no option but to take the room left vacant by her ex-fiancé’s new fiancé. Her new roommate, Miles, is of course the ex- boyfriend of the person her ex left her for. Catch all that? It’s a funny story!

Emily Henry’s emotional writing is top notch and Julia Whelan does a FANTASTIC job delivering the feelings and well written humor. I enjoyed slowly understanding Daphne’s back story and how she wanted to feel like part of a big, loving family. Her struggles are realistic and you can see her growth through out the book.

I’m not usually a fan of the fake dating trope but this one played out differently. It wasn’t a simple “let’s pretend for the sake of my own ego” situation but more of a quirky “why did I just say that?” that snowballed.

I’m sure I’ll listen again!
