Destination Dark Zone: Six Twisted Tales by Susan May

5.0

Once again, I must thank author Susan May for keeping me up very late on not one, but two consecutive nights, kudos! Destination Dark Zone is a marvelous collection of macabre short stories and one novella. As with everything story Ms. May has ever published, these are very well-written with exceedingly well-described characters. Many of whom I came to care about. Most of those characters have terrifying events occurring in their lives (or deaths) and I loved my front row seat to those eerie occasions. But, most of all, the cream of the crop, top of the charts is the novella, Drift. Drift is a prequel to Susan’s much-loved The Troubles Keeper. It was an emotional read for me (I truly want to say emotional train-wreck and after you read the haunting story, you’ll see why I didn’t). I laughed, sighed in happiness and despair, and cried. It is a beautiful, touching, horrifying story of love, loss and time-travel. It left me wanting more, which I consider one true sign of a awesome tale. I highly recommend it and all of Susan May’s work. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
