tw underaged sex with reversed dynamics (???), male gaze, murakami depiction of boobs
this book interested me at first but turned out to be kind of boring. the underaged sex scene threw me off, one of the characters was clearly the type of "sexually liberated" female character written by and for cishet men, and the mc just had 0 personality. the entire book was just him nodding and humming meanwhile other characters told their own life stories. and the smut is subpar. by the end i just felt like they made him bang whichever woman was left in the cast.
HOWEVER, some of the subject matter was pretty interesting, and the writing style is not entirely offputting. as my first murakami novel i think this one was alright. i got me back into reading again.
