Fire Weather: A True Story from a Hotter World
by John Vaillant
This book deserves all the praise it gets. The conceit, examining the impacts of climate change and fossil fuel consumption and extraction through the profile of a fire, is pulled off nearly flawlessly. It manages to be simultaneously intricate and individualized to the impact of the events on people's lives but also broad and sweeping as Vaillant discusses the larger context and implication of such destructive weather. The descriptive language he employs is superb. Vaillant envelops you in the text and in the situations he describes. Truly excellent
