A funny and relatable read but not satisfied
It's worth reading once.
I liked how similar most of the book was to my life, especially from the part about not liking living in my country, to finding out about the Chinese job market and the TEFL course. What I don't like about it is that the book synopsis said Tim might meet a girl, maybe, but that didn't happen. It would have been nice if the story talked about how he settled into the China life just a wee bit.
If you're planning on teaching in China and you're a mid-twenties white guy who doesn't yourself respect much you might enjoy this book. This is a coming of age book and will reveal to you the uncertainties you'll have to make during your career transition, even though it's fiction.
If you are somebody that has your life planned out, with a legit teaching diploma and all that jazz, you'll find this book to be a waste of time.
