Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi

4.0

This is a book that has so many things I am sucker for: absurdity (with regard to a cafe that allows guests to time travel - so long as they follow six rules) and relationships/family dynamics that just pulled at my GD heart strings! I wasn’t super sold at first with “The Lovers” story, but as the other guests and their parts of the book unfolded, I was so impressed with how Toshikazu not only weaved together the lives of those who are in the cafe but did such a good job of keeping track of time jumps from story to story… The very end had me cryinnnngggg. A mother, daughter relationship? Classic. I can’t wait for half star ratings because I think this sits at a solid 4.5 for me. If it was smoother for me to read, I think it would be an easy 5. Im excited to see if the stories from book one continue to get weaved into the next book … and I have to find about the story of the ghost woman/reader/bathroom user
