Evershore by Brandon Sanderson, Janci Patterson

5.0

This story kind of felt shorter than the others, I’m not sure. I am a bit disappointed we didn’t get to see the Spinface reunion or how Detritus got back to it’s proper place…if it did? At the end of Cytonic, is it still floating next to Evershore? That’d be hilarious.

Speaking of which. I was absolutely flabbergasted when that happened. Holy crap. That feels like such an insane thing to happen. My brain broke for several moments and I don’t know how Defiant isn’t going to address anything that happened. Like I thought telling Spensa that they saved Cuna from a star-monster or that Cobb was kidnapped and replaced by aliens or that we found SEVEN THOUSAND SLUGS wasn’t insane enough. But also we can move the planet. Is it like…Star Killer Base? I think that’s what the planet-size death star thing is called in TFA.

The Jorgen Abuse continues because Janci and Brandon are jerks. This poor boy has so much anxiety. He needs a hug. But I didn’t really love his interactions with Juno. There was something so satisfying about Jorgen hearing Juno’s words and it helping him. Maybe it’s because for the last two novellas Jorgen has been struggling with his powers but now he’s finally coming into his own.
