The Escape by K.A. Applegate
4.0

Oh, Marco. His POV continues to be my second favorite of all of them, and in this book, we start to get a deeper understanding of the trauma he's suffered, and how it's had an effect on his ever-present humor. I liked this book for the importance of Marco dealing with everything relating to his mother being Visser One, but I also liked it because there were flashes back to a previous book where Marco got very badly injured. There's a lot of trauma relating to that incident, PTSD symptoms that could not possibly be glossed over here, and they weren't.

I find it so interesting how Applegate took the "comic relief" character and always managed to give him some of the most poignant stories.
