Dear Pen Pal by Heather Vogel Frederick

5.0

I have been really loving this series, the characters are SO much fun. Each girl is so different from each other and they all have so much to offer in the book. I grew out of Middle Grade really early as a kid, but I wanted to read this series and I’m so happy I am. It’s so good.

In the third book, the girls deal with a lot of changes in their lives. Jess leaves for a fancy boarding school, Emma’s relationship with Stewart is confusing, Cassidy doesn’t want another addition to her family, Megan is getting along with her grandmother better than she has ever gotten along with her mother and Becca is still being difficult.

One of the things I love SO much about these books, is that from the book you learn about other books to read. In each book, the book club reads a book and the story has a lot of elements from the classic they are reading init.

I love how in each book the girls are getting older, you really get to know them and their families. You watch them grow up. I really love Megan’s grandma, she is a fierce woman. All of the women in this book are great role models for their daughters, it’s the perfect example of what we need parents to be like in children’s lit.

I really recommend this series to anyone looking for a fun, wholesome read!
