This is the first book of a new 5 book epic fantasy series which blends Scottish and Oriental history together in a fantastic way. I loved the way this was written and ate the story up so fast for a nearly 600 page book which did not seem to take to long. The author has been able to create such a wonderful setting which draws the reader in making them feel that they are there with the characters. Then when you witness the character work which has been done then it hits you like a double edge sword and sucks you in. I have found this book a compelling read which I have been looking for since experiencing Robin Hobbs The Realm of the Elderlings.
