Brutal and beautiful. I slipped easily into Celie's world, thanks to her inciteful narration and the authentic flow of her vernacular. This book is heartbreaking and heartwarming all at once. It is incredibly human. It took me to a world and experiences I know nothing about, and made me understand and feel them as though they were my own. Recommended.
