Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll

It really bugs me that everyone now reviews any book that involves a damaged female character as being like "Gone Girl". The main character in this book did not use her damage (which by the way was earned honestly) as an excuse to totally annihilate and destroy people purposefully. This author get's so much right, the way teenagers think and socialize, the way that crime victims process trauma and the long lasting effect it has on their lives and relationships. This is a tough book, with tough subject matter so it's hard to say it's an enjoyable book but I couldn't put it down.
