Londonopolis: A Curious History of London by Martin Latham

informative fast-paced

3.0

This book was interesting in places, but it wasn't what I expected. In parts it feels less about London, and more like a memoir. Some chapters seem to exist so that the author can fit in personal anecdotes and talk about his family connections. I found myself going to Wikipedia mid-chapter to learn about some of the people and locations mentioned, as the book would give a flippant mention of something interesting, then move on to another topic. It was a quick read and it had its moments, but it isn't really what it appears to be from the cover and synopsis.
