a man's rationality slowly unravels as he allows his obsession (and guilt) to consume him. he becomes more and more of an unreliable narrator as the story goes on, to the point where i started questioning the factuality of every statement in the book. which, i guess, turned me into him, in a way.

the chain of events reminded me a bit of antonio di benedetto's zama.
