Grace lives in a world of her own. She exists in her life alone at home as her parents living their own often leaving her to act as roommate and not daughter. She has friends, good ones, but never really part of a whole as they've gotten older to drift apart. She dreams of the wolves, or her wolf that saved her, and seeing them each time it becomes cool in Mercy Falls.

Sam is Sam, well, when he is in his skin and not his pelt. He has a hard time remembering who Sam is when he is a wolf, but somehow she breathes a part of his life as human into as he watches from the woods. His yellow eyes being the only clue he is hidden in the trees.

They watch each other. Pieces of them wanting each other, yet never knowing each other. Until one night when he is shook out of his fur to flesh with snow on the ground. He is hurt, on her doorstep, and she learns that is her wolf. The adventures begins trying to make Sam stay Sam with everything else falling around them.
