Better characters and more depth and complexity than the first book. The plot really picks up here, although once again pacing can drag in places.
Trust in Berg’s writing strength as everything you go through in the long set up is important. She spins an intricate web, and it is worth getting to the end.
I very much appreciate a story where everyone is damaged and broken by their ordeals rather than a disingenuous peaceful ending.
