I think I may be in the minority, but I feel like I cringed the entire way through this book.

I’m not saying I didn’t enjoy it, but I just felt like I was expecting so much more from this book the way people rave about it.

Killian was a fun character. He’s morally gray and has all the psychopathic tendencies you can think of. Literally the first chapter he’s in he does the most…derogatory thing to someone he was meeting for the first time. I actually had to pause before continuing.

After that moment, I feel like the story was a bit slow for me. It picked up about half way through and it kept my interest. The “mystery” part is the story kept me going. I had to know what the heck was happening. I figured out the “who” but not the “why”. Now that plot twist surprised the crap out of me.

I loved the character development out of the FMC, Glendon (also love her name). She really grew into herself after meeting Killian, even if she was embarrassed about it at first. By the end of the story, I was so happy she accepted herself again.

I didn’t love the random side POVs. I didn’t understand the need for them…I don’t think it really built the story up more. It just seemed unnecessary to me.

Although I was a bit let down, I will continue to see if the other books are more my speed. I think I just didn’t love some of the tropes for this book. There were some characters I definitely have an interest in learning more about.
