Environmental Activism and the Media; The Politics of Protest by Maxine Newlands

3.0

Quite interesting to understand the evolution of activists' relationship with the media over time, and the creeping demonisation and legal persecution of environmental activists via abuse of anti-terrorist legislation. Unfortunately all of this was overshadowed by the terrible grammar. Generally multiple mistakes per page - incorrect to/too, apostrophes used for plurals and plurals used for possessives, words missing .... I reckon 90% of these mistakes I could have identified when I was ~7. In some places they were just annoying but it was very obvious what the sentence was supposed to say, whereas in others it made it genuinely confusing and there were quite a few sentences where I actually could not work out the intended meaning. This did have the effect of making the use of [sic] in quotes pretty funny though.
