Heart of Stone

I'm @ 50% and I am determined to finish. I like the idea of gargoyles as the MC. I am always especially drawn to non-traditional supernatural beings. However, I was ready to quit early on because it's soooo slow paced... there's lots of angst & brooding but little forward movement. And Ella, REALLY?!?
I just got to the part where they *finally* found a warden so they can figure out what the heck is going on - 50% of the way into it! Good grief! Fingers crossed that this is the only one in the series that is this slow.
So, around 85%, there is some stuff about the spells/wards - this is by far my favorite part of the book. The rest I could do without.
Finally finished. I am curious about Fil but I don't know if it's enough to try book 2. I was really put off by the dynamic between Ella/Kees.
