Wow. It felt like I was reading this book for the first time all over again - it’s been close to 10 years since I last read it, so that’s no surprise really.

One thing I don’t remember, is the OTT writing, the trying to be too teenage-y, the massive amount of pop culture references. The absurdity of some characters. General phrasing of things. And a semi-annoying protagonist.

Is this because perhaps it’s the first collaboration between mother and daughter and the story and writing progresses better once they learn to write better together? Perhaps. I’ll be finding out if this is the case once I finish the HON series, because on her own, P.C is an amazing romance author. I’ve read almost all of her books and have enjoyed them immensely. I haven’t read any of Kristin’s solo works, but I’m eager to.

I’m still just a bit confused at their choice of words sometimes. Like seriously. No 16 year old says poopie.

And some of the describing/cliches of teenagehood actually just felt so wrong.

Oh well. Here’s hoping this gets better (like I think I remember it does)
