Magic Lessons: The Prequel to Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman

3.0

3.5 stars.
This was a wonderfully whimsical story. The pacing felt a little inconsistent for me; some places made me lose interest entirely while at other points, I was locked in. Still, I did enjoy the writing and flow of this one significantly better than [b:Practical Magic|22896|Practical Magic (Practical Magic, #1)|Alice Hoffman|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1490354120l/22896._SY75_.jpg|4030671] which left me disappointed when I read it a few years back. I also took delight in the readings, spells, and recipes from the womens' grimoires.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a historical story about love and strong family dynamics with a magical touch.
