Remembrance of Things Past Volume Two by Marcel Proust

slow-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? Character
  • Strong character development? Yes
Proust's depiction of how we experience time and memory is both profound and entirely relatable. The work is self indulgent, overwrought (girlfriend could have used an editor) at times uproariously funny and at others a dirge like bore. But reading it is an experience. Proust's narrator - really an extension of himself - stays with you long after you put it down.
