Ruthless Vows by Rebecca Ross

5.0

5 stars

“I would love to see you burn with splendor. I would love to see your words catch fire with mine.”

Rebecca Ross bewitched me in this book. She literally cast a spell on me and im still under this because believe me when i say this i did not find anything in this book that i would dislike. It was simply that good. Her writing style is so beautiful, so poetic and lyrical also whimsical and enjoyable. The pacing of the book is slow but I did not mind that as i got more time to spend in this world and ever passing minute that I spent in it was truly a blessing. A form of escapism.

“If my words have bewitched your son, then know that his possess the same magic for me,” she said, reflexively touching her wedding band again.”

Iris and Roman had my heart in a chokehold. I cannot shut about them and yes they are my Roman empire. Iris in this book was so patient and so loving as she battled with loss. I loved every scene she was in, Loved her relationship with forest as well and every moment that she shared with her mother was also so heartwarming. I also loved how courageous and bold she was in this book. She was ready to take Dacre down. Her words were stronger than anything and i know she would have gone lengths to ensure that they got out. Roman, oh roman! i loved him even more his love for Iris and his desperation to get back to her. I loved how clever he was, the way he communicated with Iris and tackled Dacre. I also loved how he did not give up on his love for Iris.

“A shiver coursed through him as he looked up at the moon and the stars. He remembered everything.”

Side Characters. Attie and bexley were so fun to read about, the perfect side characters and even there romance was amazing. Two character who surprisingly shined for me were Forest and Sarah I just wish we got to know them more and i absolutely love the story of Enva and Dacre, how everything was handled for them was truly well done.

“Write me a story where there is no ending, Kitt. Write to me and fill my empty spaces.”

The Romance. THE BEST PART ABOUT THE BOOK. It was sweet and kinda hot I am also convinced that Roman and Iris and Star crossed lovers/Soulmates because omg everything that happened to them in this book proves that. I cant get into it without spoiling much but I have to say the romance was easily the best part about this book and you will not be disappointed.

“And he thought, There is no magic above or below that will ever steal this from me again.”

The plot and the worldbuilding. I feel like the plot really progressed in this one and was also well balanced im happy with how things went, how they unfolded and got resolved and obviously loved how it ended though i would wish we got more twists in this book as for the worldbuilding I feel like book 1 built the base and this one further enhanced it and it felt good to read about it.
.
Overall a excellent duology that i'll recommend to everyone.
