“Sometimes, sad things serve as a gentle reminder that we still feel.”
Lucy Hope, 22, is a ray of sunshine with a big heart. It’s been 13 years since she last saw her childhood friend, Cal, after his family moved away unexpectedly. Over the years, she has tried to find him with no luck. Now, upon returning to her hometown, she discovers that he works at a local repair shop. But now, he’s a broken, grumpy man who prefers to be alone. Can Lucy save him, or will her heart be broken in the process?
Wow, what an incredibly emotional and gripping read. This book tugs at your heartstrings with memories from the past and the portrayal of how broken this man Cal has become. Slowly chipping away at his hard exterior, Lucy makes her way in. The tension and slow burn between these two were fantastic. Emma’s beautiful spirit living on in the pages she wrote as a kid melted my heart. The way this ended left me clutching my heart in shock. I need the next book now. The audiobook is fantastic, and I highly recommend it.
