Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta

5.0

This is currently my most favorite novel. I read it months back however, this is the only time I am able to make a review. I admit that I am having a hard time reviewing it. Maybe it is because I feel like whatever words I say will not justify how beautiful this book is. I JUST LOVE IT. It’s that kind of book that you can read over and over again, whatever mood you are in. If you’re feeling happy, read it. If you’re feeling sad, read it. If you feel like it is the end of the world, read it. If you’re just loving life at the moment, read it. So I guess, if you haven’t read it, just do so, it’s not going to be a waste of your time.

So what did I love about this book? EVERYTHING, but most especially how mysterious this book is. The author provided bits and pieces of the past that made me crave for all of the answers and unravel the mystery of the Jellicoe Road. But even if I had an intense need to find out the answers, I did not dare skip even for just 1 or 2 pages. Everything was just interesting and important, no moment was dull. At first though, I admit that the first few pages were kinda confusing, “like who the hell are these people? What is happening? I don’t understand”. But without all of these, this book wouldn’t be beautiful and memorable as it is. Also, there were a lot of characters in the book, but each and every one of them are unforgettable in their own way. All of them made an impact and are significant in the story. I can’t help but fall in love with all of the characters. They may have their differences but at the end of the day, they appreciate and help one another.
