Erdrich has created something so special in her writing - something that I have sought out time and again but have often been left feeling dissatisfied - that I couldn’t bear to put it down.
Her characters are so rich and full of life, the places they live and work inhabiting my mind fully. And the magic and medicine behind it all is truly powerful because Erdrich believes in it wholeheartedly, lives and breathes it herself, and she makes you believe in it too.
