I read this novel for class and it was informative but I feel I could've went through even more than it did.  For the most part no swears except for the n word which was used quite frequently. I would not recommend this to immature children. Also SPOILERS!!! that when one of our side characters dies the girls don't even shed a single tear for their fallen friend who they were raised with.
