Our Wives Under The Sea by Julia Armfield

5.0

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Firstly, this book is a must read for everyone, regardless of genre preference. The writing is outstanding and I was constantly blown away by Armfield's talent.

This is a book about love, grief and loss. This book is like a poem and touches on themes all over, focusing on love and what we might do for those we love, what lengths would we go to to ensure our person is still our person, regardless of how we've changed?

"Loving, is something we do alone"

The writing is so relatable, the characters are complex and layered. The language used throughout mirrors the title, with words like 'swell', 'dredge' and 'sunken' because of this the story flows beautifully, it feels alive and grows as you read.

This is an honest and outstanding book, it's full of searching and meaning.
