Darth Plagueis by James Luceno
challenging
dark
mysterious
slow-paced
- Loveable characters? No
- Diverse cast of characters? It's complicated
3.0
This book sure is wordy… I think I lost the thread two or three times there just trying to keep up will all the talk about finances and political schemes. Didn’t help that most of it was telling with very little showing.
There were interesting details, like how the clone army came about. But there were also many things I didn’t enjoy, from how this is more a book about Palpatine than Plagueis to how Palpatine is the reason Padmé was Queen.
I’m glad this is legends and I can disregard it. I was expecting more. I’m quite disappointed and hope whatever canon makes of Plagueislike that hint we had in The Acolyte is better than this book was.
