The story begins with a 16 year-old, India Allwood, who is passionate and persistent and being raised by her no-nonsense, lawyer, single mother. India wants nothing more than to act on stage. When she becomes pregnant, she and her boyfriend spend their days happily growing their baby until she is born and placed with a single mother. India goes to college and begins to really peruse her dream of acting. When putting herself so deeply into a character’s role she neglects to take her birth control, she becomes pregnant again also choosing to place the baby with an adoptive family. Later when she moves from the stage to television, she adopts two children. While being an integral part of India’s life and who she is, the families she helped make all come together under a set of circumstances.
