American Gods: Author's Preferred Text
by Neil Gaiman
Very entertaining and imaginative, but tough to follow at some points I'll admit. LOTS of characters, LOTS twists in the plot, LOTS of misdirection so to speak which I guess was the point, once the penny drops in the final quarter of the book. There are a lot of 'side branches' where the story sort of shoots of in another direction, ultimately to provide background information of some of the many gods, but making it a bit tricky to keep track of where you are in the story. I had to a break from it a few days here and there, but it was definitely worth it to stay with is 'til the end.
