An audible sale made this title too much to pass up. I love Lynn Painter's YA Romances because of the great chemistry and banter. I absolutely love the way she writes dialogue, and I feel the anticipation of a couple connecting and falling in love. This is not a "Closed door romance" but there was limited spicy scenes, the audiobook was really well acted by both male and female POV. Lynn Painter rom com's make the connection in others seem so elementary in comparison, it was so easy to root for Halle and Jack!!

This book just starts at level 10- you don't get the chapters and chapters of characterization, we learn who Halle and Jack are through an action scene right from the first page. It is such a good first chapter that it could be a stand-alone short story, and this is how it hooks you from the first page. Halle and Jack have a drunken hook up due to a dramatic situation and decide to be friends. It is a twist on the "friends-to-lovers" trope because they have already been intimate. So they fall for each other as friends after already having the knowledge that they have great sexual connection. And WE, the reader, know they are in love before they do.

Friends to lovers, one bed, fake dating, all my favorite tropes.

That final scene!! No spoilers but it is in THE RAIN and it is ALL GLORIOUS dialogue that will have you making the cute kitten emoji face. Even more if you are a Pride and Prejudice fan. It's so great, y'all.
