Wilder Girls
by Rory Power
Wilder Girls is a very immersive queer read that I could not put down. We follow three friends at an all girls boarding school (Hetty, Byatt + Reese), on a secluded island known as Raxter. Everyone on this island has the “Tox”, a kind of disease that slowly changes your body in horrific ways (leading to death in some cases). When Byatt has a flare up and shortly goes missing, we learn more about the tox and follow Hetty and Reese as they try to unravel the mystery.
Ok what I loved about this book was the ATMOSPHERE. It was gory and some scenes made me wince in disgust. The description were very well done. The friendships and the romance are messy, which suited the book really well. The reason this was a 3 star is because of how frustrated I was at the ending. If you’re not bothered about open endings, you’ll probably enjoy this! However, I felt like we’d gone in this huge journey only to be left with questions
