John Boyne has a way of turning letters into gold. Every piece of work he has written is just brilliant and amazing, and that is also true for "A traveller at the Gates of Wisdom". Not being too interested in history myself, I was afraid this novel wouldn't quite do it for me, but I was proven wrong. This is a masterpiece. A novel covering almost 3000 years, from AD1 to 2028, describing the course of one man's life but set in different time settings.... only John Boyne could pull something like this off. It was well written, interesting, fascinating and highly entertaining. Filled with beautiful and / or powerful sentences. The opening sentence alone is one you won't forget. I am a big fan. This is pure quality !
