I WAS listening to this, but realized when I was about 60% through, that I had the abridged version....:/
Now having started over from the beginning, I'm reading it and am amazed at how much was left out--humor, plot, everything. It is not the same story at all.
Lesson learned: a) check for abridgment b) NEVER READ ABRIDGED VERSIONS!
