The Willows by Algernon Blackwood

1 star = I did not like it

No. Read it for the uncanny [b:Annihilation|17934530|Annihilation (Southern Reach, #1)|Jeff VanderMeer|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1403941587l/17934530._SX50_.jpg|24946895] and Lovecraft recommendations, did not get any of that. The short story does indeed have uncanny occurrences but the narration fails to execute the uncanny atmosphere itself, it rather reads like a random string of facts that I as a reader could not connect with on a deeper emotional level. The writing felt like something in between a matter-of-a-fact and a happy short story writing. You know, the classic short story ta-da-da quick and elated pacing.

Personally, I do not see this as a worthy read.
