Set against the backdrop of gang-filled Chicago in 1928, the former New Orleans residents are called to a case of a missing heiress. It’s been 9 years since Ida and Michael left the Big Easy and have become much more experienced in range of outdoor activities. Tangling with historical figures like Al Capone makes “Dead Man’s Blues” play a darker tune to its predecessor. A great variety of complex characters who all carry their own tragedies with them. As the novel progresses, the intricately woven narratives start to entwine with one another and you have no idea who will solve the crime or who will survive to the finale. Action packed and clever how the climax of the novel correspond with a real world event for Chicago in 1928.
