I really wanted to like this book more than I did, but I just didn't connect with or care much about any of the characters. The story was deep and well told, but it still left me wanting something more. Drosselmeier was a rather unlikable character in my opinion, and I kept waiting for him to redeem himself, but it never happened.

So, it was fun getting a deeper look into the world I love from The Nutcracker, but it wasn't enough for me to give it more then 3 stars.
