Sorry in advance if this is bad, it’s my first time writing a review

TW: MENTION OF RAPE, KIDNAPPING, ‘QUIRKY’ PEOPLE, STUPIDITY

Carabeth or “Cara” is a girl that gets kidnapped buy a serial killer along with Dean Asher, her sister’s fiancé. They develop a connection during their time in captivity and can’t shake it even during the time after.

The plot of this book was pretty strong but a lot of characters annoyed the living shit out of me. The main character hates her full name and goes by Cara.  (omggg so quirky) We find out that she’s 29 in the first chapter, but if you didn’t know you would have thought that she was some immature child. She had a rivalry with Dean and was convinced that she hated him.

When they got kidnapped Dean tried to be mature and forget about their rivalry so they could figure out how to escape but Cara insisted that she hated him.

Cara was raped by their kidnapper and she and Dean were also forced to have sex. Only she was acknowledged as a SA survivor, though Dean was also technically raped. Dean was also blaming himself for raping Cara after he was forced to with a gun to his head.

Dean had been dating Cara’s sister, Mandy, for 15 years before the kidnapping happened, but he broke things off with her after the kidnapping. Even though Dean suffered through intense trauma, Mandy lowkey complained about not having enough sex.

Dean obviously broke things off for his own reasons, but Cara was super convinced that he did it for her. She even told him to get back together with her sister, even after he told her that he broke things off for himself. WHY IS HER SKULL SO THICK. NOT EVERYTHING IS ABOUT YOU CARABETH.

Another thing that bothered me was that Cara was described as having “shiny golden curls” while her sister’s hair was “bleached blonde”.

Anyway it’s not that bad of a book and I cried during a few parts. She also adopted her kidnapper’s dogs after the kidnapped threatened to feed her and Dean to them💀
